BC Premier Christy Clark Support Letter
November 29, 2011
Dear Mr. Landucci:
I want to personally thank you for the tour of the Ashcroft Terminal facility that you recently provided to my colleague, John Les, MLA for Chilliwack, and Pamela Martin of my office.
I understand that the location of the Ashcroft Terminal provides a distinct advantage for producers, manufacturers, and shippers by enhancing transportation options and improving rail access. I also understand that the Terminal will create opportunities for new business developments and increase investment in the region.
The Province is working hard to support the success of private investments like the Ashcroft Terminal. British Columbia is one of North America’s most competitive and dynamic places to do business, with streamlined regulations and a supportive, financially responsible government. Companies that choose to locate or invest in British Columbia will benefit from low personal income and corporate taxes, competitive operating costs, stable labour conditions and an exceptional multicultural work force that is well educated, highly skilled, and productive.
The Ashcroft Terminal is an important regional asset that contributes to British Columbia’s competitive advantage and complements our Pacific Gateway Strategy. I wish you continuing success with your efforts to attract customers and secure new investment.
I have asked the Ministry of Jobs, Tourism and Innovation to follow up with you, and a senior representative of the Ministry will contact you directly in regards to your interest in the Pacific Gateway Strategy and the funding commitment you negotiated with the federal government.
