HR Coordinator

The Responsibilities

  • Support Terminal Management in educating employees on and enforcing company policies
  • Managing human resource records by keeping accurate, up-to-date employee files including contracts, performance reviews and benefits forms.
  • Assisting the Terminal Management in advising managers and supervisors on legal compliance issues including Employment Standards Act, Workers Compensation Act and Human Rights Code legislations.
  • Ensuring strict confidentiality when handling sensitive employee issues.
  • Creating new hire employee letters, packages, and managing the onboarding process.
  • Assist in the full hiring process of employees, including recruitment, interviews, verifying work history and references, and tracking of new possible candidates.
  • Assist with performance management procedures.
  • Assist with payroll and ad-hoc HR projects.
  • Keep up to date with the latest HR trends and best practices.
  • Present any new or additional training materials to employees.
  • Foster positive employee relations and work to solve any employee issues that surface.
  • Make sure all employee records are filed correctly and kept confidential. (Hourly Employees)
  • Under the leadership, be a vital source of human resources information, answering any questions employees may have.
  • Support any other special projects the Terminal needs assistance with.
  • Support other assigned functions.

Qualifications

  • Post-secondary education plus a minimum of one (1) to three (3) years’ work experience in a similar role, or a commensurate combination of education and experience.
  • Human Resources Certificate/Diploma; Degree in Human Resources preferred.
  • Fluency in recruitment technology interfaces (applicant tracking systems, job posting websites, social media portals, etc.).
  • Excellent organizational and planning skills and the ability to juggle multiple priorities
  • Excellent interpersonal and strong communication skills, both oral and written.
  • Strong knowledge of MS Office
  • Effective analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Must be a self-starter with the ability to work in a collaborative team-based environment.
