Terminal Manager

The role will be based at the main terminal located in Ashcroft, BC and will report to the Chief Executive Officer. Current staff on-site include an Operations Manager, Equipment Supervisor, Safety Manager and approximately 30 employees who will report into this role. Over the next 5 years, an additional 30 employees will be hired as part of the growth plan.

Position Overview

The Terminal Manager is responsible for the safe, timely, and cost-effective performance of the terminal and its operating area, providing leadership to facility functions relating to product movement in to and out of the terminal. The Terminal Manager will provide leadership and direction to a team of employees, ensuring all customer service requirements are achieved in full compliance of company policies and procedures. In collaboration with the executive leadership team, the Terminal Manager will ensure strong alignment of all terminal activities with the overall company vision, strategy and culture to continuously improve customer service, employee engagement and profitability.

The Responsibilities

  • Optimize productivity (terminal velocity) by ensuring on-time performance, facility operations and staff performance to consistently meet operating targets and customer requirements
  • Provide leadership, supervision and performance management to all employees
  • Develop and lead regular site communication sessions to review safety initiatives, site performance and other local initiatives
  • Accountable for inputs and outputs of safety, service, productivity and financial metrics
  • Responsible for the flow of product and inventory management including warehousing and transportation activities
  • Accountable for full understanding of customer business requirements and service commitments
  • Oversee all equipment maintenance and repairs, ensuring all is kept in good working condition and meet the standards of applicable legislation
  • Establish work schedules and ensure that they are correctly implemented and that jobs are assigned and completed effectively
