IT Coordinator

SCOPE OF POSITION

The IT Coordinator is a full-time position based in Ashcroft, BC. The IT Coordinator supports and coordinates all IT related activities for Ashcroft Terminal for both locations in Ashcroft and Vancouver. Ashcroft Terminal is part of the PSA Group, the leading global container terminal operator. Group technology and IT are key to the future of PSA and AT.

Reporting to the Terminal Manager, the IT Coordinator is primarily responsible for IT coordination, support, and IT project management. The role has two main focus areas: hands-on support for current IT systems and as project manager evaluate new IT investment proposals and coordinate implementation with external parties. The IT Coordinator role has a crucial technical component. The IT Coordinator must have the ability to provide support to both users and the system. For IT projects the IT Coordinator manages IT related projects end-to-end and ensures that new systems and technologies are well accepted and supported by end-users and the business. It is expected that the role, responsibilities and duties of this position will evolve over time as business operations grow.

As Ashcroft Terminal is part of the PSA Group, with global headquarters in Singapore and regional headquarters in Antwerp, Belgium, the IT Coordinator has access to a team of experts that will provide support for the specifics of IT needs for the container terminal business.

ROLES, RESPONSIBILITIES & EXPECTATIONS

Support:

  • First point of contact for the end-users in the event of IT issues (1st level support)
  • Responsible fo resolving issues with application and infrastructure up to a certain technical level (2nd level support)
  • Coordinates more complex issues with external parties (suppliers or experts within PSA)

Project Management:

  • Evaluates solutions and suppliers for IT projects
  • Defines project plans and aligns the plan with stakeholders
  • Implements projects in line with the budget, timing, and quality

IT Coordination:

  • Reviews IT project portfolio on an annual basis and recommends a realistic IT plan for the following year
  • Ensures that corporate cyber security standards and programmes are implemented and adhered to and coordinates user cyber awareness
  • Manages and monitors evolving business requirements for IT
  • Reports on supports, IT performance, and project progress on a regular basis
  • Supports the implementation of policies and procedures, special projects, transformation initiatives, and enhancements
  • Assists management on additional ad hoc IT duties as required

SKILLS, QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE REQUIRED

Education Requirements:

  • Bachelor in Information Technology, equivalent education, or a combination of relevant education and experience

Experience and Knowledge Requirements:

  • 5+ years experience in support and coordination of IT for a small to medium sized companies
  • Experience providing IT support in a logistics and/or railroad context preferred
  • Hands-on experience of various technologies such as Windows 10, networking technologies, etc.
  • Knowledge of and experience with yard management technologies, Geometrix, Seatech, AEI Readers, track scanners, etc.
  • Familiarity with systems in the cloud including Office 365, MS Azure, Oracle, etc.
  • Experience with business applications such as an ERP
  • Experience with and understanding the importance of IT and cybersecurity, including security backups and software
  • Experience managing servers, wifi, site hardware, and CCTV
  • Experience coordinating/managing IT projects
  • Experience planning and overseeing IT fibre projects

Technical Requirements:

  • IT technical savvy in IT infrastructure and IT applications

  • Must have valid class 5 drivers license
  • Travel between site locations and within the region and beyond is required
