The Custodian is responsible for the cleanliness of onsite office buildings and staff housing. The Custodian will ensure that buildings are tidy, clean and well-maintained. The position will be expected to take on other duties and responsibilities not specified below on an occasional or on-going basis.


  • Responsible for keeping terminal office spaces and staff housing clean
  • General cleaning and housekeeping duties as required or directed by management
  • Cleaning offices, boardrooms, lunchrooms, washrooms, hallways and other work paces
  • Sweeping, vacuuming, and mopping of floors
  • Disposing of trash and emptying trash receptacles
  • Keeping buildings free from indoor pests
  • Maintaining cleaning equipment and supplies
  • Performing minor repairs as needed
  • Ensuring equipment and lights are switched off and premises are secure after hours
  • Must ensure accurate record keeping of time spent related to AT activities
  • Must communicate efficiently with terminal management


Education requirements:

  • Must have completed minimum Grade 12
  • Must hold a valid class 5 BC Drivers License
  • Current first aid certification is an asset

Experience requirements:

  • At least 3 years relevant work experience
  • Experience in the transportation industry would be an asset

Technical skill requirements:

  • Excellent English language skills in written and verbal communication
  • Proficient knowledge of cleaning equipment and agents
  • Proficient with handling basic maintenance repairs
  • Able to lift 25 kg repeatedly
  • In good physical condition, and physically agile and dexterous
  • Resilient to cleaning agents and chemicals
  • Knowledge of safe disposal of chemical liquids and other hazardous components

  • Strong work ethic and initiative, self-motivated/self-directed, with the ability to work independently
  • Must have the ability to use sound judgment and make reasoned decisions
  • Must be able to manage multiple tasks and priorities under time constraints
